76&Piha Grand Opening in Töölö: A Masterpiece of Modern Living

In August 2024, the heart of Töölö witnessed the highly anticipated grand opening of 76&Piha. Over 100 eager guests, including influencers and media representatives, gathered to celebrate the completion of this remarkable project. The event culminated in the unveiling of Tommi Toija’s acclaimed artwork, “Ainainen vappu” which added a unique touch to Töölö’s urban landscape.

A Harmonious Blend of History and Modernity

Newil&Bau’s vision for 76&Piha was to preserve the building’s industrial heritage while incorporating modern comforts and services. The design focused on creating ecological homes that seamlessly blend style, functionality, and luxury.

Lead architect Mika Penttinen, who has a personal connection to the building, oversaw its transformation into contemporary apartments. Formerly known as the Entrepreneurs’ House, the building has undergone a complete metamorphosis.

“The building’s interior showcases an industrial aesthetic, featuring exposed steel frames, visible load-bearing structures, and sandblasted raw concrete,” explained Penttinen. “Glass tile walls in the entrance areas enhance brightness, while the building’s southwestern orientation maximizes natural light. To counterbalance the industrial elements, we incorporated warm wood accents and a lighter color palette.”

Urban Living and Community

76&Piha offers a harmonious blend of history, urban living, greenery, and community. The project prioritizes sustainability, minimizing its carbon footprint through recycling and optimized energy solutions.

Residents enjoy a hidden gem: a private courtyard sheltered from traffic. Each apartment features either an open balcony or a French balcony overlooking the courtyard. The interior design skillfully balances old and new elements. Exposed glass, wood, and sandblasted beams create a modern industrial atmosphere while maintaining warmth. Residents also had the opportunity to personalize their homes.

Beyond the individual apartments, 76&Piha offers a range of communal spaces, including fitness and remote work areas, a workshop, a game room, and a sauna and pool area. These spaces not only enhance residents’ lifestyles but also foster a sense of community.

A Successful Grand Opening

The grand opening was a resounding success, impressing the over 100 attendees. Guests toured the well-designed remaining apartments, explored communal spaces, and admired Tommi Toija’s artwork. The property’s studios had already sold out by the opening day.

“Ainainen vappu” a humorous and thought-provoking sculpture by Tommi Toija, was unveiled at the event. This piece, known for its personal touch, is situated so it can be enjoyed by both residents and passersby on Mannerheimintie.

“The grand opening was a triumph,” commented Petri Ylivuori, CEO of Newil&Bau. “The warm and festive atmosphere allowed guests to experience firsthand what 76&Piha has to offer.”

Welcoming New Residents

Ylivuori expressed his enthusiasm for the project’s success: “76&Piha caters to the growing desire for urban living. Our collaboration with Mika Penttinen resulted in a unique architectural concept that blends Töölö’s spirit with modern industrial style. The resident services and customization options align perfectly with our N&B concept.
The first residents began moving into 76&Piha during the summer, and we wish them all the best in their new homes. We extend our gratitude to everyone involved in making 76&Piha a truly exceptional project.”
